Far away from the boom and base and the Ibiza capital, a rolling rural interior succumbs to the coastal highlands and exaggerated rock formation of the northern island. It's here in San Juan where that 'other Ibiza' of Jade Jagger and Kate Moss weekends comes into view at a 150-year old finca called The Giri Residence captured under a forest of olive trees and coastal pines. Located walking distance to the village of San Juan, visitors arrive along a gravel walkway at the rear of the farmhouse whereas a far more glamour front entrance is etched in pure white stucco framed by pebbled reflection pool and perfectly patina teak walkway.
Inside, a serine lobby of stacked tone walls and marble floors oozes of a design sophisticated entirely free of white leather furniture or Balinese statuary, instead a singular fireplace rises above the center of the lobby diving the main lounge for the intimate dining room. Simple, elongated sofa faces built-in banquettes with crisp linen cushion with row of basket weave chandeliers overhead. Period windows and doors face an agrarian countryside and working far, just past the quintessential Ibiza pool surrounded in covered cabanas and outdoor bar. Well-thought out design details include geometric masonry walls near the pool to a cool bar with reclaimed wood top bar near the Living Room Restaurant serving locally sourced cuisine by the personal in-house chef. A stylish spa is bigger than you'd expect of a 5-room hotel, with cocoon-shaped floating tubs and heated plunge pool located in the basement of the hotel.
The Room
A series of five suites are arranged like fingerlings around the main lobby, terraced along the countryside with large outdoor spaces built for views and privacy. Suites like the Olivo are arranged in a two-room layout that can double as two bedrooms. Stone floors line the living area with fireplace and rumpus lounge idea for sprawling out after long afternoons at Blue Marlin - Ibiza’s best beach club. Open style-bathrooms off the main bedroom feature polished teak floors and multi-ton stone sinks and bathtub literally chiseled from a boulder. A superior suite, called The Bougainville, offers even more space with multi-floor layout and living area with large formal dining space. A larger wraparound terrace offers private loungers and the best views of any room in the house.
